Overrides
The ConsentForge vendor library provides sensible defaults for all pre-configured vendors. Overrides let you customise these defaults for your specific property without affecting other properties.
What you can override
| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| Category | Move YouTube from marketing to functional if you only use it for support videos |
| Display name | "Website Analytics" instead of "Google Analytics 4" |
| Purpose description | Custom explanation of how you use the vendor |
| Privacy policy URL | Link to your own privacy policy section instead of the vendor's |
Setting an override
- Go to Property → Vendors and open the vendor
- Click Override next to the field you want to change
- Enter your custom value
- Save
Overridden fields are marked with a badge in the vendor list. Library updates to that field will no longer apply automatically.
Override logic
When a user views the Preference Center, ConsentForge uses the following priority:
Property override → Library default → (empty/hidden)
If you've overridden the category, the vendor is shown under your custom category, not the library default.
Resetting to library defaults
To remove an override and go back to the library default:
- Open the vendor
- Click Override next to the overridden field
- Click Reset to library default
Category override and script blocking
Changing a vendor's category via override also changes which consent category controls its script blocking. If you move Google Analytics from analytics to necessary, its scripts will load without user consent — only do this if you've confirmed this is legally appropriate for your setup.
